Strippers Score
American Express isn't ready to strip this
charge from the bill.
The company is suing the head of a communications
company for $241,000 in credit card charges at a
topless club in New York. The customer, Robert
McCormick, disputes the charges.
American Express said he was in the club, called
Scores, in October 2003 with at least three other men.
After the bill came in from American Express,
McCormick's company -- Savvis -- called and complained
that some of the charges were fraudulent.
According to the lawsuit, McCormick admits spending
about $20,000, but no more. The company said he's "the
victim of fraud."
This is at least the third lawsuit in the past two
years involving contested credit-card charges at the
club. After a lawsuit last year, a representative of
the club said "high rollers" can spend thousands of
dollars on single bottles of champagne, and can tip
strippers as much as $10,000 for "lap dances" and
spending time with them.
